Early Maths

At Mount Street we use a range of strategies and materials to help your child develop their mathematical knowledge and skills.  We encourage children to gain a deeper understanding of their mathematical knowledge before moving on therefore they will have the opportunity to learn in more than one way.  For example we may learn about the number three by counting three, singing about three, making three in different ways, hunting for three, creating a 'Three Museum', setting up a table for the Three Little Pigs and so on.

One of the resources we use in nursery, to introduce a new number, is the number blocks.  Below you can find links to the series that help introudce the numbers 1, 2, 3,4 and 5.
