  • Mini Police - Litter Pick

Wed 17 Apr 2024 Mrs Hibbert

Today, Year 4 joined PC Deb and the 'Clean Our Patch' Litter Ambassadors Elle and Ash to walk around on our local streets and collect litter.  We had a safety briefing first, so we knew what not to touch and how to behave when walking around the neighbourhood.  We were very enthusiastic about collecting as much litter as we could and managed to fill 5 bags in just 45 minutes!  We have volunteered to go out again! Great job Year 4!

We have been continuing to learn all about Spring in our class this week and decided to draw some Spring flowers. We looked at pictures of many flowers found growing at this time of year and learnt their names before having a go at drawing them using pencil. Miss Knox then gave us a range of different media to use to add colour such as oil pastels, crayons and colouring pencils. Take a look at our amazing work!

  • Lord Mayor's Visit

Thu 14 Mar 2024 Mrs Hibbert

Today, Mount Street received a visit from the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Mark Shayer.  In our 'Dare to Dream' assembly, he explained to the children all that his job entails but, perhaps more importantly, what he had done since leaving school.

He explained that he wasn't very good at school to start with and had to study really hard to pass his exams.  He then went on to enjoy a career as an engineer in the Royal Navy before working for Babcock.  He told the children of the incredible places in the world that he has visited - including the North Pole - which really amazed them.

He ended his assembly with a question and answer session during which our children asked some thoughtful and challenging questions.  The Lord Mayor told the children that they were the best behaved school that he has visited!  Well done Mount Street!
