Today both Year 2 and 5 received a visit from Greenbank Firestation's Education Officer. She talked about 999 phone calls; bedtime safety routines: unplug, switch off, blow out. She also explained danger of making hoax calls; dangers in the home; fire alarms at home and the need to regularly test them.
Year 2 practised the technique for 'drop and roll' and then she talked about what you should do if you see a fire and how you should report it. She explained how the fire brigade get involved with inland rescues and the importance of being prepared when you go out.
