Heatree 2019 - Day 2
After an uneventful night for our children, those who were not already awake were woken at 0730 for an 0800 breakfast of yoghurt, toast and cereals. Green group were the washer-uppers whilst the rest prepared for the mornings activities which were: High ropes, archery and fencing or abseiling and climbing. Whilst everyone enjoyed the fencing and archery, the high ropes and abseiling proved a challenge however, they all faced their fears and, when they didn't think they could go any further, they took one more step - we couldn't be more proud of them.
Lunch of freshly made filled rolls, with homemade soup followed and the children enjoyed playing outside.
The afternoons activities were: archery and fencing, rock scrambling and abseiling and climbing. Again, the children acquitted themselves brilliantly and were all proud of what they had achieved.
After some reflection time, it was chicken pie, mash, sweetcorn and peas for tea, followed by the most amazing (but calorie free) chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce. After evening rounds, half the children went out on a night walk, whilst the rest stayed behind for a games evening. The night walk, whilst cold, remained mostly dry and was made even better by the full moon!
On return to Heatree, it was hot chocolate and flapjack followed by bed and lights out at 10 – day 2 complete!
