Information about Home Learning during school closure

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the guidance from the Government, Mount Street Primary School will be closed from Friday 20th March for the majority of children. In line with this advice, childcare places should remain available for key workers who will be carrying out essential roles during the school closure period. We are awaiting a list from the Government regarding a list of key workers and we will update you accordingly.

During the period of time away from school, it is important that progress in learning doesn’t just stop. Given the exceptional circumstances, it is important that there are learning routines in place for your children. We appreciate this will depend on your family circumstances and your children, however, please find suggestions below which may help during these uncharted times.

Tomorrow, learning packs will be sent home with all the children who are present at school. This contains information about work the pupils will complete, a number of worksheets and an exercise book. Those children in school have selected a couple of reading books to take home. Learning packs are also available in school for children who are not currently in school. These can be collected from reception along with reading books. In addition, all activities are available from the class pages section of the school website which can be found under Children and Class pages.  We will make packs available at the school office if you wish to collect one on Friday 20th March.

We would strongly recommend the following activities daily:

  • Reading and discussion about the book –30 minutes
  • Times tables and spelling practice – 30 minutes
  • Select Maths, English and topic from the resource list.
  •

We will be updating the school website and Facebook page regularly during the coming weeks. Please look at these for any more information.

We would like to reassure you that we are doing all we can to provide your child with learning opportunities at this difficult time. We thank you all for your support.

Ms B. Shillaber.
