Mission Mammoth

As part of the Mission Mammoth STEAMFEST 2024 and #Smeaton300, Year 5 had an amazing day at The Box working with various companies thinking about how to design a mammoth enclosure for George and Mildred (the woolly mammoths). The children worked with engineers, architects, surveyors, quantity surveyors and many others from the construction industry, learning how to design a sustainable structure that can house the mammoths in comfort. The children were impeccably behaved throughout the day, asking deepening questions to find out more about the roles. A big shout out to Edna, who won the overall prize (nominated by many of the professionals) of a very cuddly woolly mammoth.
