  • Year 4 Library Visit

Wed 15 Nov 2023 Mrs Hibbert

This afternoon, Year 4 enjoyed a trip to the library where Austen read poems to us, prepared a quiz and then we were explored the fiction and non-fiction sections of the Children's area.  We all chose a book to borrow to bring back to school.  Austen then reminded us that there is a 'Big up your book' club after school on a Friday in the library which we can all go to.

  • Children's University Assembly

Thu 21 Sep 2023 Mrs Hibbert

Today the children were lucky enough to receive a visit from Cub, an Ambassador for Plymouth's Children's University.  They learned all about how they could earn stamps in their passports towards Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates and how they could be able to graduate from the Children's University.

  • Year 6 Sleepover

Sat 22 Jul 2023 Mrs Hibbert

Last night marked the final Friday in school for the Class of '23 so they marked it with a sleepover.  First it was rounders where Diana's team were victorious and this was followed by freshly baked pizza in the hall.  This just had to be followed by a competitive game of, 'duck, duck, goose' where Harley was a favoured goose!  The children then signed their handprints on the Leaver's Wall, forever leaving their mark on the school.  It was then time to change ready for movie night, where The Lorax was the chosen screening. A compulsory interval was filled with hot chocolate before the film was completed.  Settling down took a while but every child was asleep by 23:59.

    A great night!

  • Year 6 Leaver's Lunch

Thu 13 Jul 2023 Mrs Hibbert

Today, Year 6 invited in an adult to join them for lunch.  The class chose Kerry's amazing Cheese Wheels and Chocolate Brownies.  After lunch, the children showed their guests the canopic jars and the electrical hand buzzer game that they have been making this term.

Out thanks to the adults for sharing lunch with us.

  • School Governor Visit

Wed 12 Jul 2023 Mrs Hibbert

Mrs Shillingford, one of our School Governors, came to visit Year 6 today to see them create an electrical hand buzzer game.  This is their final DT project of the year - they've had great fun making and testing them!

  • Bring a Bear to School Day

Fri 30 Jun 2023 Mrs Hibbert

Today we all wore blue and brought our teddies to school to raise money for Jeremiah's Journey - a Plymouth-based charity that provides free support to children, young people and their parents/carers who have or are about to experience the death of someone special.

We brought our bears into our Celebration Assembly so that they could join in with our Powerful Learners, Dojo Masters and Oracy Masters - I think they have all worked really hard!

As a school, we have raised over £170.00 - Well done and thank you Mount Street.

  • National Marine Park Plymouth

Thu 29 Jun 2023 Mrs Hibbert

Today, we received a visit from Nick, a Coastal Ranger for the National Marine Park, Plymouth.  They learned all about the work that Rangers do and the fascinating creatures that live in our waters.  Did you know that Plymouth is the UK's first and only National Marine Park?

The children also learned about how the tide is controlled by the moon and the sun.  They now know that the safest time to swim is at either high or low tide, with the next safest as the tide is coming in.

All the children learned how to be safe and have fun near water remembering four simple rules:

    1. Stop and think

    2. Stay together.

    3. Float

    4. Call 999 or 112

They all thoroughly enjoyed Nick's assembly.
