  • Author Visit

What an amazing day we all had, when author Stewart Foster came to visit us for the day.  The children were inspired by his stories and passion for writing, and loved hearing all about his dog!

  • Art Award Explore

    Sun 22 May 2022

Year 5 have enjoyed working towards the completion of the Art Award Explore (Entry Level Award in the Arts).  First, they visited an Art Exhibition at the Box called Breaking the Mould  ( the first survey of post-war British sculpture by women.)  where they looked at and discussed a range of sculptures before creating their own collages inspired by the lines and textures they had observed.

Later, they explored the Box, and while they certainly enjoyed experiencing the collections, the focus was on the Box’s role as an organisation.  Back at school, Carly Seller (an artist) spoke to the children about her work and then they were given the opportunity to interview her.

Finally, Carly shared carving techniques with the class and they all made their own soap sculptures inspired by the artwork they had seen earlier in the week.

A great time was had by all and we would like to say a huge Thank You to the team at the Box, who made this opportunity possible.

  • Spirit of Adventure - Day 2

Thu 05 May 2022 Miss Clement

Year 5 had another amazing day taking part in Plymouth's Spirit of Adventure project. The children had the chance to set sail on a traditional boat, learning about life at sea and have the opportunity to crew the boat - raising the sails, reading charts, tying knots and manning the tiller.

Working as a team, they set sail out towards the breakwater, learnt about historical places and enjoy the views from the sea.

A huge thanks to all for making today an experience they will never forget.

  • PE Specialist Training

Thu 05 May 2022 Mrs Hibbert

Year 6 have been lucky enough to receive some PE training from Mrs Laws, a PE Teacher from Lipson Community Academy.  She has been training them how to sprint efficiently and how to run a relay properly - without dropping the baton.  They are hoping to focus in future weeks on the field events in preparation for sports day.
