  • Didn't They Do Well!!

Thu 29 Feb 2024 Mrs Hibbert

Last night, a team of Key Stage 2 girls took part in a PSSP Football Tournament at Lipson Academy.  They showed determination, drive and spirit and, even though they had never played competitively as a team, they showed fabulous team spirit and sportsmanship.

We are incredibly proud of their efforts as they came third!  Well done girls - Lionesses beware!

  • Year 4 - Library Visit

Wed 21 Feb 2024 Mrs Hibbert

Year 4 enjoyed another fabulous trip to Central library. Austen read us two Greek Myths: Persephone and Odysseus; and we had to find our 'partner' as part of a greek quiz linking pictures of Ancient Greek gods and monuments with their written description.  After, we all chose a book to take back to class with us.
Austen reminded us of the events that happen every week in the library: Big up your book, story club, Lego club and encouraged us all to use this amazing facility.

  • year 4 - Digestive System

Thu 18 Jan 2024 Mrs Hibbert

What an exciting afternoon - we made poo!

We recreated our digestive system by breaking up crackers and banana (chewing) into a zip lock bag (our stomach) and adding orange juice and water to represent saliva and stomach acid. We then churned the food to break it all down into small pieces before emptying the contents into a leg of a tight (small intestine.) Using peristalsis (muscle contraction) we squeezed the churned food through the small (and large) intestine so that the nutrients and water could be extracted into the blood stream. The waste was then forced into a paper cup (rectum) and then it was pushed through the hole (anus) to excrete the waste.

  • St Matthias - Kindness Assembly

Thu 18 Jan 2024 Mrs Hibbert

Amy, from St Matthias, came to talk to us about being kind.  She talked about how a tongue could be a weapon if we used it to say unkind words but how it could also be used for good if we said kind things.  We were all challenged to say a kind thing to someone we saw being sad, to say thank you if someone does something for us or says something kind and to compliment somebody to make them feel happy.

This afternoon, Year 4 enjoyed a trip to the library where Austen read poems to us, prepared a quiz and then we were explored the fiction and non-fiction sections of the Children's area.  We all chose a book to borrow to bring back to school.  Austen then reminded us that there is a 'Big up your book' club after school on a Friday in the library which we can all go to.
